"The five folks in the middle took the grueling, three-month-long, National Ski Patrol "Outdoor Emergency Care" course, and the ones on either end were their Instructor Trainer and Instructor of Record. When this photo was taken, we had all just completed the six-hour long test of their skills by a panel of OEC evaluators, and we're all thrilled that we survived! The test took place at Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ.
The shirts were the result of a comment during a conversation about the seriousness of Outdoor Emergency Care training. One of the candidates wondered how they would react if they had a patient on the mountain with a serious, life-threatening injury, and another candidate responded with "you'll just keep calm, and OEC on." We all looked at each other, and in that moment, we decided that we needed "Keep Calm and OEC On" on a shirt. The rest is history. "
