Mitchell's Magic Team

"Mitchell is our 8 year old son that was born with hydrocephalus caused by a malignant brain tumor. At six days old, he had a craniotomy and tumor removal. After his crani, he had a stroke. He had bleeding in two parts of his brain. This bleeding left him with left sided weakness that he still battles. At one month of age, he started chemotherapy. At the age when most babies and their parents are still learning what the other needs, our son was receiving chemo weekly. Shortly after starting chemo, he received a VP shunt. This is a tube that helps his spinal fluid to drain. These are just a few of the major obstacles he has overcome in his short life. 6 months ago, he received another surgery on his left leg to release contractures (severe scar tissue) caused from the stroke he had as an infant. That day, he set a goal to RUN A RACE with his new, strong leg. That is just what he did. On October 20, Mitchell, accompanied by his closest family and friends completed a 5K run!!
