"Our 2011 family polka. We do this annually. It started in 1978 when my late Grandfather held them for he and my Grandmother's wedding anniversary. They used to have one every 5 years. My Grandfather passed away a few months after our 1998 polka. In 2003 the Grandkids got together and decide that the tradition of grandkids dancing with their grandparents, aunts with nephews, uncles with nieces, and cousins with cousins had to continue. In 2008 we decided to have them annually (because we know our time together is limited). For our 2011 polka we purchased a t-shirt for all family members. The dance hall was full of the bright red shirts. The shirts featured the old schoolhouse/dance hall on the back. They were a hit for the family, the polka band, and the owners of the dance hall. The shirts looked sharp and we have returned to Custom Ink for our 2013 shirts. " - james family polka (Jul 19, 2013)
